Paper Quilling Emojis

We start this project off by looking at the history of paper quilling using this Prezi. When I show the students more modern day paper quilling artists is when I can see their excitement. Especially the artist Aimie Holdorf who makes Pokemon using the paper quilling technique.
Students then begin their emoji creations using precut yellow construction paper strips, a water bottle cap filled with glue, and a toothpick! Here are some of the final products:
