5th Grade Bobble Heads

I left it open for all students to choose whether they wanted to make a person, character, or animal for their projects and the results turns out amazing! There was a lot of problem solving with how to make the proportions right and for it to be able to balance and bobble. The first day students made the heads of their creations using a simple pinch pot method. Some added pieces such as noses, hair, eyes, some left their heads blank and waited to paint the faces on for the glazing day. The second class we created the bodies and started with either a cone or cylinder shape. We hollowed out the bottom and then attached pieces or a base. The third class the students glazes their pieces and the last day I hot glued springs on the inside of the head to attach to the body while they were making labels for the upcoming art show.

Watch this video to see them bobble in action!
