4th Grade Keith Haring
4th Grade recently learned about Pop artist Keith Haring and how he uses movement in his works of art. I started it off by showing them this Prezi:
We then talked about movement and why some artists might want to show movement in their drawings or paintings. We did some one minute gesture drawings with some student volunteers who would strike a pose and the other students tried to capture that pose in a quick stick figure drawing sketch. We used our sketches as inspiration for our actual Keith Haring paintings. Students had to make up four different action people from their imaginations or from their sketches and make it Keith Haring style! I loved how the kids incorporated their own style into Keith Harring's style and got really creative with their figures.
